The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship (CTSS ) Scheme is introduced by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) under the Ministry of Culture (Government of India) to encourage creative talent among school-going children from economically weaker sections of society.
The scheme provides financial assistance to talented students pursuing higher education in arts or performing arts disciplines. It also encourages them to pursue further studies in these areas.
The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria for a student are:
- Age should be between 10–14 years
- Should be studying in any recognized board or institution
- Should belong to the economically weaker section of the society
- Parents should have been practicing an art form as their profession
- Students should not benefit of any other scholarship
CTSS Scholarship Amounts:
The selected students will get a scholarship amount of INR 3,600 per year.
Reimbursement Amount:
The eligible candidates will get reimbursement of up to INR 9,000 per year for the fee paid to the institution/Guru/teacher to receive specialized training.
Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Selection Procedure:
The students will be selected on the basis of their performance in the interview/test.
Shortlisted candidates will be informed by post about the dates, timings, and venue of the Interviews/Tests, which may be conducted at the Regional level during May-August of every year.
CTSS Scholarship Scheme Duration:
The scheme is available for a period of 2 years from the date of the scholarship award. CCRT can extend scholarship beyond two years for up to a maximum period of 20 years (Subject to the continued performance of the student).
Scholarships can be renewed as many times as desired, subject to the student’s performance. A student should provide the progress reports to CCRT to continue the CTSS scholarship.
CCRT Progress Report for CTSS Scholarship:
The scholarship holder shall be placed under the supervision of a senior faculty member/mentor of the institution/Guru/teacher. They shall be required to submit a monthly progress report to the CCRT, New Delhi, in the prescribed format by the 15th of every month.
If the progress report of the student is continuously unsatisfactory for the two half-yearly or not received in time, then the scholarship may be discontinued, and the decision of the CCRT shall be final.
How many CTSS Scholarships are provided by CCRT?
Every year CCRT awards 650 new scholarships to qualifying students. Some of the scholarships are reserved for –
- Tribal Culture (ST candidates) – 100 Scholarships
- Families practicing traditional arts – 125 Scholarships
- Divyaang (Differently Abled) children – 20 Scholarship
- Students of Creative Writing/Literary Arts – 30 Scholarship

The Candidate who finds himself/herself eligible is then entitled to apply for this examination. Candidates can download the CCRT application form from here.
The candidates are advised to fill the form in all respects complete and attach a recent photograph of the Candidate and all relevant documents, and two copies of the Candidate’s passport size photograph.
